Meet Adriana Komorniczak: M.C.P., Registered Psychotherapist
As a psychotherapist, Adriana practices primarily from a trauma-informed and attachment theory based lens. She is strongly committed to helping clients gain the valuable insight and to build the crucial awareness needed to uncover their authentic selves. She believes this work to be the greatest gift you can give yourself and your loved ones around you.
Adriana works in a client-centered way where she encourages clients listen to their bodies and to only go where they are ready to go. Together, she and her clients come up with an integrative treatment plan that serves as a guide to initiate change and to encourage and adopt a self-led approach to healing and growth. These shifts are supported by a very safe and highly compassionate environment, which is essential to truly connect to your voice within.
Adriana is a registered psychotherapist (RP) who has been working in private practice for over 15 years. She is a part of the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), an association that protects the public by ensuring that clients are seeing a qualified and competent psychotherapist. She is also a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). She received her B.A in Psychology from York University and her Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
Adriana is a mother of two young boys and when asked about what stage she finds herself in life, she feels that as she has settled into her 40s, she trusts that she is exactly where she needs to be and has gained a strong awareness of what to dedicate her time and energy to. She recognizes the human in her, with all of her imperfections, and deeply respects the “human” in all of her clients. Through her years of experience as a psychotherapist, she feels that what connects us all is this very “humanness” and that in order to have any successful therapeutic interventions our “sameness” must be acknowledged before our differences. This is how we build compassion and understanding for ourselves, which lays the very foundation for growth in therapy.
Adriana specializes in the treatment of Anger, Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Trauma-related difficulties. She works with both individuals and couples and has gained vast experience in treating Childhood Trauma, Interpersonal Issues, and any other difficulties related to an individual’s unhappiness and lack or meaning/purpose in their lives. She also offers guidance in Assertiveness, Conflict Resolution and Strength-Based/Positive Parenting.
Adriana has pursued training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals and couples, Interpersonal Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy for individuals and couples (IFS), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Treatment ends when the client feels it is time to and often, as clients enter and re-enter certain life stages and changes, the therapeutic relationship is something that serves as a constant in a clients’ life. Adriana remains dedicated in navigating “life” with her clients and anchors their therapeutic relationship a source of healing for however long it takes.
Adriana is now accepting new clients both in person and virtually.
